Cruise:     St. Martin / St. Kitts / St. Lucia    W.I.

With a lot going on in our lives, we needed a little relaxation. A cruise to the West Indies was the perfect antidote. After our last Carnival cruise on the "Fascination", we had some concerns about the food and other service. The "Legend" was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful ship, great food, and a relaxing time on board.

St Kitts

In St Martin we took a trip to a beach on the other side of the harbor. There was an old fort on the top of the hill with rusted cannons still pointed at ships sailing by.  In St. Kitts we took a snorkeling sail on a catamaran. The trip to the sister Island of Nevis passed hills dotted with homes and cottages overlooking the pristine azure waters. Snorkeling was great, and I found I could still easily swim down 30 feet or more to get a close-up look  under the rocks and coral.

In St Lucia, the ship used in the original "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie is now a tourist attraction, but our Bike tour on St Lucia was the highlight of the trip.  Our guide Greg, had over 20 years experience and was an amazing wealth of information. He stopped many times along the way and gave us "mini" tours of life on the island. We were amazed at the aromas and variety of spices. He cut off pieces of fresh cinnamon, nutmeg and much more, things like "Noni juice" - Google it. I guess there is a reason people like Oprah and others have homes here. It's definitely a place we plan to visit again.
